Gerard V. Yu, DPM
1954 - 2005

The department of podiatry at St. Vincent Charity Hospital is saddened to announce the recent passing of Dr. Gerard V. Yu on August 15, 2005 . It is an unexpected and tremendous loss to not only the Cleveland community but to the field of podiatric medicine as a whole.

Dr. Yu was a pioneer in his field his dedication to education was unsurpassed. Throughout his esteemed career he has published over 120 articles in the podiatric literature and established himself as a respected and accomplished speaker, participating as a key speaker over 40 seminars yearly in the areas of podiatric medicine and surgery, orthopedic surgery and vascular medicine.

Dr. Yu excelled in all areas of foot and ankle reconstructive surgery and is respected by his peers as one of the leaders in the development of new operative techniques, now adopted as standard of care.

He will be dearly missed by his associates, his patients who hold him in the highest regard, his resident staff who are thankful to have trained under such an honored mentor.

Dr. Yu leaves a wife, Barbara, his parents and five children, Jason, Ashley, Nicole, Sandra and Cheryl.
